27 Days to a Healthy Body Image: Day 8
"Da, Da, Da, Da, Da,
Da, Da, Da, Da, Da,
Da, Da, Da, Da, Da,
Everybody Dance Now"
Are you singing along? Does hearing an upbeat rhythm make you want to shake your tushy? To the great embarassment of my family, I don't just want to shake, I do. I break out in dancing, laughing, sweating and having fun.
Is sweating fun for you? Is should be-- It is good for you! While that argument doesn't work for me and broccoli, you might want to consider the health benefits of sweating. Sweating helps clear the skin; sweating actually burns calories; sweating can boost the immune system.
There is even a scriptural admonition to sweat! You know the story. Adam and Eve, lounging in the garden; they eat the apple and are banished from Eden... God tells Adam "in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread" (Genesis 3:19) God's first instructions to the now mortal Adam was that he would need to sweat and work not just to survive, but (according to me) to enjoy the fruit of his labor.
Can you enjoy working, sweating and creating? Yes! Find something you love-- something to smile about and start sweating. I love dancing to a good beat; the focused repetition of swimming laps in the pool; the determination found in pulling each weed from the garden.
Sweat today! Your body and mind will thank you!
